long-awaited cottage pics

in one week, instead of sitting here with a laptop i am going to be reading the half-blood prince. it's funny to think of how much time i spent waiting, and how quickly it's going to be over. i said that i would try to restrain myself and see if i could read a chapter a day to make it last, but a week or a month...it's going to feel like the same amount of time when you are waiting for book seven.

but i think i would be kidding myself if i thought that i could only read the first chapter once i had it in my hands.

anyway, this is a time to remember. to reflect upon and see how patient we can be when we have to be. when you are waiting in line at the bank and you want to go postal or the red light wont turn and you HAVE TO PEE...just say to yourself...i've waited years for those harry potter books, i can wait for this.

thirty-second recap

i am introducing the thirty-second recap as a means of blogging while these blasted renovations are going on. the forecast looks gloomy until monday, but after there will be no fear of interference ("the people upstairs" are going to the cottage so they won't be needing to use the cable outlet) and the network lines will be free and easy.

so, in a nutshell...

i went to the cottage for three days and i have been trying to get some pics up.

everyone has taken to calling me batgirl at the restaurant. the name rang true when sasha ran away the other day. i tracked her down and caught her.

also, i am about to quit my job at the take-out. i say about to and i mean, like in the next twenty minutes. i am giving up prime shifts at the restaurant for that job and i don't want to hate saturdays for the rest of my life.

i have not given up on my summer movie list, i just really haven't seen any movies lately (not because i think i am better than you, just because i have been rewatching all nine seasons of the x-files but don't tell anyone i said that).

thank you to the dear reader(s) still hanging in there with me. i promise to visit as much as i can.

well i am not sure if these are downy woodpeckers, but i don't know what else they could be.

we bought a new type of seed for the feeder and it had a picture of them on the label. lo and behold...a pair come the next day.

there's a male actually taking food from the feeder and then he would climb up the tree to the female and feed it to her. the female is only white and black. the male has a red crown.

so here is a picture of him, her and them together.

the infamous frog. i took this at kevin and pj's in their backyard when we were housesitting.

it was really dry and we had to water their lawn so i think this guy came out to take a shower.

i have seen frogs before, but i have to say...i have never seen a frog look so much like a frog. big, fat, slimy and bright green. he was indeed the essence of frog.

blog reno

i've been gone for so long i don't know how to forgive myself. i just got back from a three day stint at the cottage but that's not a sufficient reason for my blog being so lacking in bloggy goodness.

"the people upstairs" are renovating their computer room and turning into an extended bathroom. unfortunately for us, this means that our network router now gets turned off anytime someone upstairs wants to watch television because they now have their internet hooked up to their bedroom cable outlet.

and although this in part explains my recent absense, it does not explain why my blog has turned into a personal, pictureless journal that although at first seemed refreshing to me, now seems to be getting a little monotonous.

i need some serious blog refurbishment.

so hello to everyone i have missed. i have been dying to go visit all your blogs and see what you've all been up to. and that's what i'm going to do now.
