ex-ilicious

Polar Express

yesterday was my birthday. seeing that the cne is one of my all-time favorite places in the entire world (and always has been) it seemed like not only a suitable venue for the day, but a necessary one.

it is sort of like how harry potter has to return each year to the dursley's (only the ex is far more fun and exciting than privet drive).

in my psychology class last year, we learned that you can't really "forget" a memory, you just need the proper trigger and you can pretty much pull any long-lost moment back into consciousness.

walking through the cne, i can remember almost every year of my life and all of the people that meant something to me, even if i haven't ssen them in a long time. here i am getting cheesy, but it's true.

the cne is a really exciting and wonderful place and it always surprises me how being around large masses of interesting and different people can make you stop worrying or bothering about everything. and that's not to mention the lack of places in the world that smell like cotton candy and donuts all day long.

this picture is of my two favorite rides, the polar express and the giant wheel. the giant wheel is probably the first ride i have ever been on and was always a must-do no matter how long the line. luckily yeasterday there was no line and i got to go twice.

the last time i went to the cne, i made jody come on with me and we were stuck with this crazy kid who kept trying to stand up and change seats.

the polar express is always the first ride i go on; the warm-up ride and it has special meaning to the sisters in the family. yesterday, they forgot to lock two of the bars and they had to stop the ride when they saw two groups of women frantically grabbing and fumbling and praying.

the only problem or let's say, the "catch" of the ride is that someone gets squashed. i have always had a left-right problem where my brain just starts buzzing when i try to figure out the left or right of something else opposite to me so there is about a fifty-fifty chance that i can figure out the proper place to sit so that i am the squasher and not the squashee. this time ryan got squashed. but then when you are the squasher you sometimes feel guilt for the pain you are inflicting and spend most of the ride in a futile attempt to lift yourself up and not break your boyfriend's knee (hip/shoulder/elbow).

but sometimes you get squashed and sometimes they squash you, but it's still fun because you can laugh about it.

anyway, more pictures to come.
and thanks to everyone for their lovely birthday greetings and wishes!

thank you so much! and i would love it if you came to visit.

i don't mean to sound conceited, but i think jody and i are two of the best people in the world to show you around the ex.
